Igmullis,

Thanks for your question.  I'm sorry to hear that you're having so much problems.

Cough is a symptom that is caused by inflammation, infection, irritation, and/or secretions in the airways.  It is your body's natural response and attempt to eject any foreign substance from the airway.  People with chronic lung disease like asthma, COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis) are often plagued by chronic cough.  Should there be any change in your usual cough pattern, or if this cough is new,  you must see your doctor for his evaluation.  This could be an indication of infection, a change in your disease, or the development of another problem in your lungs.  If he also chooses to treat the cough, there are several different types of cough preparations available.  Your doctor, with your input, is the only person to decide what medication is best for you. Your lung condition, other underlying medical problems, and medication, play a role in this decision.

I hope this has been helpful.
