10/15/07 #7 - Can cluster headaches be dangerous?
Cluster headaches - can they be dangerous? I don't get them very often, but when I do, I feel like death would be better. The last one I had I felt like I was going to puke but I was praying I would not because I felt like if I did my head would explode.
Dear Cluster Sufferer;
The only dangerous presentations of cluster headaches are those associated (rarely) with blood vessel abnormalities (carotid artery). I'd ask your physician to do an MRA as part of a workup. Otherwise, seeking the advice of a headache specialist might be best. There's a link to our directory of recommended specialists below.
