1.** BMI Calculator**

Most everyone is familiar with the BMI Chart, which standard for Body Mass Index, used for calculating ideal weight ranges. The BMI was developed in the 19th century as a formula to give the government a quick and easy way to measure the degree of obesity of the general population.

However, BMI does not give an accurate picture of health weight. For one thing, BMI does not take into consideration waist circumferences, which is a clear indicator of obesity level. Read Belly Fat is More Dangerous Than Obesity, New Studies Show.

Another reason is BMI does not indicate level of fatness accurately. A person could have a high BMI but not be overweight or obese; rather the person can be fit with very little fat and high muscle mass.

That said, most of us are not athletes having a high muscle mass. So, chances are that if your BMI is high then you need to lose weight. Use our BMI Calculator.

For more precision, specialists recommend using a combination of Body Mass Index (BMI), Body Fat, and Lean Body Mass to figure an individual's ideal healthy weight.

2.** Waist to Hip Ratio Calculato Central obesity is measured by comparing the circumference of a patient's stomach to a circumference of the hips. Use this Waist to Hip Ration Calculator.**** Women** with waist-to-hip ratios of** more than 0.8** are at increased health risk because of their fat distribution.** Men** with waist-to-hip ratios of** more than 1.0** are at increased health risk because of their fat distribution. Using this calculator, my waist-to-hit ratio is .8.

3.** Body Fat Calculator**

Body fat calculators give an indication of body composition (muscle and fat). Two people with the same body weight and height could have completely different body compositions. This Body Fat Percentage Calculator estimates body fat using weight, age, and waist size.

You will want to be in the lean or moderate classifications for body fat percentage. I calculated my body fat and it is moderate.

The bones of African-Americans tend to be dense and so they sink easily in water. On the other hand, the bones of Asians are light and porous so they tend to float. To allow for these differences, healthy African-Americans should have a lower percent body fat than Asians and Caucasians, while Asians should have a higher percent body fat than African-Americans and Caucasians.
