I Am Allergic To A & D Ointment. What Do I Do Now?

I recently got a tattoo and used antibacterial soap as well as A & D ointment. Well, a few days later, i broke out around my tattoo with an allergic reaction. Everyone, including the tattoo artist, said I am mostly likely allergic to the Lanolin in A & D ointment.

What can I put on the bumps to make them go away? I switched from A & D ointment to Aquaphor.

Answer

Talk to your doctor or see a dermatologist.

Some ointments, such as bacitracin, can sometimes cause irritation, redness, itching and contact dermatitis. Your doctor may have suggestions for other preparations you can use for the rash and/or the tattoo.
