Best Dietary Advice For Gastritis Causing Yellow Loose Stools. Thank You.
Mollymay, I am so sorry you are dealing with gastritis. The first thing when you are experiencing a flare up is to discuss the issue with your physician to insure you make any needed medication or medical plan changes. It is also important to know when you need to be seen. If you have excessive pain, blood in the stool or signs of dehydration please make an appointment immediately. When your gut is in a huge flare up it can be beneficial to give it some time to rest. Maintaining hydration is the first thing to consider. Sometimes water can cause additional nausea so electrolyte drinks can be a good place to start. Once you've done well with liquids you can add back some foods that are easy to digest. Foods that can help to slow the loose stools are the ones used in the B.R.A.T diet- bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. You may want to avoid foods that are high in fiber like beans, bran, raw fruits and raw veggies until the flare passes. Once things have calmed down following a diet rich in probiotics as well as anti-inflammatory like the Mediterranean diet can prove to be helpful for a lot of people. Hope you feel better soon!
