I Had A Biopsy On My Breast And The Surgeon Punctured My Breast Implant.

I just recently had a biopsy taken on a solid mass in my breast..during the biopsy the surgeon punctured my breast implant. Are they responsible to pay for the cost of a replacement or removal of the implant?

Answer

I haven't heard of this happening before. It seems reasonable to me that you would be reimbursed for any costs that occur because of the surgeon's mistake. However, it may turn out that some of the fine print in the documents you signed before surgery say otherwise. How did the surgeon explain the mistake and what did he say needed to be done about the punctured implant? What does the plastic surgeon who originally put in the implant say? I hope the biopsy turned out to be benign and that you are OK.
