The american heart association guidelines have a goal blood pressure of 120/80 or less. Treatment of blood pressure over 140/90 should include medication, diet and consistant exercise.
Though your blood pressure is not astronomically high, your health would likely benefit from medication, diet and exercise. Commonly, physicians will start people with mild hypertension on medications called diuretics, as these drugs are cheap, extremely safe, and without many side effects. An example of a diuretic is hydrochlorothiazide.
You should discuss these issues with your physician at your next appointment.
