Blood Pressure 89/56 And Resting Pulse As High As 112 What Is Going On?

I normally have low blood pressure, about 100 over 70. Now it is lower and I have periods of resting pulse rate over 100 up to 112. This started 3 days ago. I feel as if I have been on the treadmill for 30 minutes, but I haven't.

Answer

Based on the limited information above, what you are describing may be inappropriate sinus tachycardia. This is when the pulse rate is extra fast, for no apparent reason, when the body is not particularly stressed. Of course, there can be many other things that can cause a low blood pressure and rapid heart rate. These are (but are not limited to) atrial fibrillation, an infection, loss of blood, and dehydration. If you are getting symptoms such as dizziness or lightheadedness, if the pulse becomes progressively more rapid, or if your pulse is irregular check with your physician.
