Breast Scab, Hormonal Changes, Stress…cancer Related Or Not Really?
I have a scab like thing on the side of my left breast but it’s yellowish in color and doesn’t hurt, and I have no idea where it came from. I was reading other responses on different sites and noticed that some people have been saying that hormones can impact breast health. I am on the pill, and have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis and have been undergoing immense stress, and I’m 20 years old. I’m planning on attempting to visit the health center at my school tomorrow but I wanted to know if these symptoms along with the other issues mentioned are related and might not be breast cancer
Hi - I think the answer is “not really.” First of all, at your age, breast cancer would be exceedingly rare. A yellowish scab on the side of your breast could be a skin irritation of some kind; ask about it when you go in today, OK? The only time you’d worry about a skin irritation on your breast being breast cancer is if it evolves into something more serious - e.g., it seems to become infected, or your whole breast seems infected (red, itchy, hot, swollen, painful). So, keep your eye on this irritation, and if it worsens, let someone know. Good luck - PJH
