My Breasts Itch & Give Off A Sticky Clear/yellow Discharge.is That A Symptom Of Breast Cancer?

usually, it is just one side that itch at a time. recently, there is one small open wound that bleeds a little also at the areola. is it possible for girls under 20 years old to be diagnosed with breast cancer?

Answer

Hi - It would be very unusual for a girl your age to have breast cancer. Looking at the statistics, your chance is 0%. In addition, breast cancer usually appears in only one breast at a time, so you most likely wouldn't feel itchiness in both breasts, if this were cancer. Please read our post on nipple discharge, for information about what might be causing the discharge; it's probably hormonal, and related to puberty. Our Teen Guide to Breast Development might be helpful to you, too. Bottom line, if you continue to experience this for weeks; and/or it becomes worse (more constant, more uncomfortable), please see your doctor. It would be nice to know exactly what's causing this, and to get some relief from the symptoms. Good luck - PJH
