The area around the nipple normally has little bumps called Montgomery’s glands. There are also openings to oil glands. Both of these can get clogged and/or infected causing discharge. The big question for you to consider as you decide whether you need to see a doctor is whether these bumps are an unexplained change from your normal. If you have changed skin care products or bra types, the bumps might be related to irritation from the change. Check with a doctor if this is a change that has lasted longer than a month. Call sooner if the bumps get worse or appear infected.
