I Have Burning Or Stinging Skin All Over My Body. Every Day, Especially When I Wake Up.

I have Fibromyalgia and Osteoarthritis. My Mother had Rheumutoid Arthritis and I have had that check in the past but not lately. It's all over my body after I shower, when I wake up.

Answer

There's no good answer for this that I know of. I have this same symptom after too much exercise and after showering, of all the things.

Burning sensations are often associated with nerve pain. One reseacher thinks these sensations in FM are due to problems with the nerves found in the dorsal root ganglia which relay messages on the muscles and organs to the spinal cord. He believes problems in this area cause sympathetic nervous system hyperactivity (the fight or flight system).

If he's right then stress reduction exercises may help turn the fight or flight system down. You might also try taking a shower later in the day because for some people pain sensitivity seems to be worse in the morning.
