Celebrex And Plaquenil Together

H, I have just been diagonsed with seronegative RA and i have been given Plaquenil to take along side the Celebrex, and have to go back in 3 months, just wanted to know if anyone else is on there meds togther and how soon you saw improvement, My rheumologist also said i may have a muscle disease cant recall the name.

It's normal to be given both an anti-inflammatory and a DMARD together - DMARDs are disease modifying antirheumatic drugs like methotrexate, Paquenil and the Biologics and it usually takes a few months before they really kick in. Anti-inflammatories like Celebrex are given to provide symptomatic relief of pain and inflammation and will help you keep going while you wait for the Plaquenil to work. Even after Plaquenil has started working, you may need to continue with Celebrex, either on a regular basis or occasionally depending on your pain levels.

Did your rheumatologist say you may have fibromyalgia? If that rings a bell, you can read more in the fibromyalgia area of our chronic pain site.
