my doctor has put me on 40grams of lipitor a night

Answer

Hi J,

A cholesterol level of 6.1 converts to 238 mg/dl and is elevated. The American Heart Association recommends a total cholesterol level be below 200 mg/dl, which would equal 5.1 mmol/liter.

Continue to work with you physician to determine the best treatment and monitor the effectiveness of Lipitor.

All the best,
