Continuous Oxygen Therapy.
Why is it beneficial for people with chronic breathing difficulties to have continuous oxygen therapy?
Oxygen therapy is administered to increase the levels in the blood when people are unable to get sufficient amounts when breathing in oxygen from room air. The air that surrounds us only contains about 27% oxygen so giving a greater concentration brings up the levels of blood oxygen quicker. Levels of oxygen can be controlled dependant on the way it is administered, for instance, a nasal tube will give less oxygen than a spcial tight fitting face mask.
