Keeping up with the tasks of life is one of the most challenging aspects of living with RA and the many other forms of arthritis. Chronic pain and fatigue makes it hard to do routine things, such as housework. Wouldn’t it be great if someone would do it for you?
In an exclusive to HealthCentral, CreakyJoints has announced the launch of "Clean My House," an exciting membership initiative for the arthritis community. You could be the lucky recipient of five hours from a cleaning service to get your house sparkling clean
"Housecleaning is never easy but when you have a condition such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, Lupus or other forms of arthritis, pushing a broom or scrubbing a sink can be unbearably painful," said CreakyJoints co-founder Seth Ginsberg.
Seth, who has written several posts for HealthCentral’s RA site, has lived with spondylarthritis (also known as spondyloarthropathy) since the age of thirteen. He cofounded CreakyJoints, a nonprofit arthritis and advocacy organization. Their community is over 73,000 strong and is, according to Facebook, the most popular arthritis community in the world.
What Is "Clean My House"?
CreakyJoints is focused on being responsive to its community’s needs. When the organization launched a new website, they wanted to provide a benefit for users becoming registered members. They listened to the conversations on the CreakyJoints Facebook page. There, the community spoke about pain and mobility issues making it impossible for them to take care of their homes in the way they wanted, and feeling ashamed because their house was messy or dirty.
This initiative was a response to the needs expressed by the community. "We could have offered a gift card, but wanted something more meaningful," Seth told me. "‘Clean My House’ is a nod to the community and the challenges we all face."
"Clean My House" is a monthly drawing to send a cleaning service to the home of a registered member of the CreakyJoints website. The winner will receive five hours from a licensed and bonded cleaning service that can scrub floors, vacuum, clean tubs and toilets, wash windows, and all the other tasks that can be hard to do.
When "Clean My House" was announced on the CreakyJoints Facebook page, the response from the community was overwhelming. "I can’t tell you what the differences would make in my life if I won this," wrote Jennifer B. "I haven’t had a good housecleaning in four years. It would be like being reborn! This is the best prize next to the lottery I would want to win! Thank you so much for this opportunity. "
How You Can Qualify to Win
It’s easy to be included in the monthly drawings for people with arthritis to get a clean house. All you have to do is create an account on the CreakyJoints website. It’s as simple as that!
