My Daughter Is 15 Years Old She Is Having Pain In Her Left Breast And Her Nipplewhat Should We Do

Answer

Jae, at age 15, your daughter shouldn't be worried about breast cancer (nor should you, on her behalf). While it's a possibility, the odds are greater than a million to 1 that she'd be diagnosed with it. I'd say the pain she's feeling is a normal part of puberty. Please read our teen guide to breast development for more about this. If the pain remains longer than a couple of weeks; or certainly if her breast shows signs of infection (swelling, redness), then she'd want to see a doctor right away. But I'm betting the pain will go away, then perhaps come back next month; it often appears in synch with a girl's menstrual cycle. And if that's the case - again, with no signs of infection - then it's probably just a normal sign of growing up. Hope this helps - PJH
