4-day Migraine And Still Going… Help!
I am a 20 y.o. female, no health problems, but i do have a history of migraines on my mother’s side of the family. I have been getting migraines since I was 14, but they normally only last for 12 hours maximum and generally medication has some sort of positive effect. However, I got a migraine this past saturday afternoon and it still has not gone away (today is tuesday). I have tried several different medications, including migraine prescriptions and nothing is helping. I’m tired of having a headache!!! Why is this one lasting SOOOOOO long and why does it hurt more than any other migraine i’ve ever had? Is there anything I can do? I can’t hardly walk without getting dizzy and my vision is so blurry and wavy like a fuzzy television set. I don’t have health insurance, so I can’t afford to go to the ER or a doctor… Somebody help, please!!!
I’m sorry, but the only answer IS that you need to see a doctor. Any time we have the worst Migraine of our lives, we need to see our doctor to be sure it IS a Migraine and not something else such as an aneurysm.
Also, a Migraine that lasts 72 hours or longer with less than a solid four-hour pain-free period, while awake, is termed status Migrainous. You should see your doctor or go to the emergency room if a Migraine lasts that long. See Status Migrainous - The Basics for more information.
From my own experience, I know what it’s like to not have health insurance, but the only safe answer to give you is to call your doctor or go to the ER.
