Can I Take Decongestant While On Penicillin Antibiotics For Chest Congestion?

I have had a cough for almost a month. I have tried many home remedies but when it did not clear up i became concerned. It just began to go to the chest from what i hear and feel so I began to take decogestant. I felt ok for awhile and them it would come back. Doc put me on penicilan . I want to know if i can still take decongestant to release from chest. I did feel it coming out before the penicilan but less now. I read just now that it freezes secretions so I must drink more liquids to continue that process. help please. Everybody here is super worried but me. I feel great with the exception of chest phleghm

Answer

I don't think there would be a problem, but that's not really my area of expertise. I'd recommend calling your pharmacist and asking to make sure. If you're taking any other prescription or over-the-counter medications or dietary supplements, be sure the pharmacist knows about those, too. Pharmacists are generally happy to answer your medication questions.

I hope you're feeling better very soon.
