  • #6 Many drugs can cause a gout attack including thiazide diuretics (hydrochlorothiazide), low dose aspirin, Plavix and some antibiotics.

Please make sure that what you have is in fact gout and not just an elevated uric acid levels. A Uric acid level is not an accurate diagnositic tool for gout. The most accurate way to diagnose Gout is a joint fluid analysis to look for crystals.
