Does Anyone Every Pass Out From Acid Reflux
twice my husband has passed out from what he says is acid reflux, it is usually in the morning, before lunch, the stomach acid is bad and he has been burping for a day or 2, he said down and just passed out for a couple of minutes, I called 911 the first time but by the time they got there he was just fine. the second time, I didn't call, but it scares me. what is the best option
The problem is that reflux and cardiac issues have similar symptoms. He really should be cleared for cardiac. Too many people have heart attacks assuming that it is heartburn. And, if for some reason his reflux is causing him to pass out then he really needs to be checked for that as well and treated for it. What would happen if he passed out while driving? He could be held liable for knowingly driving while having issues with passing out.
I know all this sounds severe but I'm thinking that so many men are hard to get to go to the doctor. The more reasons to go to the doctor the more likley it is to happen. It's also important that he keeps track of when and how he's passing out. Is he noticing anything before it. Is he breath holding or hyperventilating due to pain? I know when I've had really severe heartburn and gas pain, I often find myself holding my breath and gasping for air. I can see how this could lead to passing out.
