Does Crestor Cause Increased Bruising

I recently began taking Crestor and just gave blood at the Red Cross blood drive. My arm bruised all the way around to my elbow & had a huge lump & I did not want to stop bleeding. I have given blood too many times to mention & this is a first. Is this caused by Crestor

Answer

Hi Leslie,

Crestor can potentially cause bruising in patients, although it is a pretty rare/minor side effect. It is possible that the medication was the cause of your troubles while giving blood because different people react to medications differently. However, it is also possible that the person who took your blood had difficulty finding the vein, was inexperienced, etc.

Thanks for your question!
