Does Diet Affect Healing?
There has been much debate in recent years about whether a plant-based diet has a negative impact on the body's ability to heal. Some research suggests that it does.
For example, a study published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition in 2013, showed that milk protein is better for muscle recovery after exercise than soy protein. According to researchers, the reason for this may be because milk protein contains more amino acids than soy protein.
However, according to some experts, protein in vegetables, beans, and whole grains is more than sufficient to promote good health and healing. Many large, strong animals—including bulls, stallions, and elephants—build and repair their bodies on a vegan diet. Additionally, plant-based foods can help control inflammation during the healing process. At this time, more research is needed to determine the relationship between diet and healing.
