and no bruise at all. The injury happened Thursday morning the 8th, it is now Wed. evening the 13th. My knee does not give me any pain to walk or bend it, I have no problem to stand...but when it is bumped in the slightest bit, it feels like a million needles being stabbed into my knee. I can gently rub it and it feels numb over most of the knee cap, to rub a little bit harder It almost feels as if something is moving around a bit. Is it possible to chip a knee cap? I had a friend suggest it was perhaps bone spurs, I couldn't really find out anything on that...any thoughts? Suggestions? If it is a chip is there anything I can do about it other than let it heal it's self? If you could respond via. email... becka2u59@yahoo.com perhaps a phone number to talk with someone?

Answer

Ouch. It almost sounds like allodynia, a supercharged pain reaction that occurs in the skin. People with allodynia sometimes can't stand the touch of clothing on their skin.

I would see a doctor about quickly. He/she may be able to give you something to calm down the pain reaction (perhaps Lyrica). You may also want to try an over the counter topical ointment to calm down the area.

One thing you don't want, if this is allodynia, is for this increased sensitivity to spread.

Good luck!
