Five Playful Mocktails For You to Try

If you're totally over hangovers, you're on a health kick, or you're simply teetotal, why not get a bit creative and make up your own no-alcohol "mocktail" creations?

Stock up on things like 100% pure fruit juices orange juice, pineapple juice, or cranberry juice work well to begin with, then add a bit of zing with citrus fruits, tonic water or lemonade, and experiment with different flavors.

The real secret with mocktails is in the presentation. So, garnish your glasses with plastic toothpicks skewered with pineapple chunks, grapes, cherries, or olives, colorful straws, tiny umbrellas, or slices of lemon, lime, orange or kiwi.

Here are 5 mocktail suggestions, which are perfect for the entire family:** 1. Cran-Raz Spritz**

Ingredients:

16 ounces cranberry-raspberry juice

16 ounces soda water

2 tablespoons lime juice

Crushed ice

Garnish
½ cup frozen raspberries, 4 lime wedges

Combine cranberry-raspberry juice, soda water, and lime juice. Divide between ice-filled glasses. Then garnish with frozen raspberries and lime wedges to serve.

2. Mary ngredients:

3 ounces sodium reduced V-8, or other tomato juice

1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Tabasco sauce, to taste

1 teaspoon lime juice

Fresh ground black pepper, to taste

Crushed ice

Garnish celery sticks

Mix all the ingredients together, and pour into tall glasses, over crushed ice. Garnish and serve.

3. Tropical Smash

Ingredients:

Garnish finely chopped coconut

3 cups frozen strawberries

1 tablespoon sugar

2 tablespoons lime juice

3 cups ice cubes

Place the coconut in a shallow bowl, moisten the rim of your glasses and press into the coconut, set aside. Blend the strawberries, sugar and lime juice until smooth. Add ice cubes, then blend until frothy. Pour the strawberry mixture into your already prepared glasses.

4. Mint Zing

Ingredients:

5 springs of fresh mint

1 ounce simple syrup

Crushed ice

1 lime

8 ounces soda water

Garnish lime wedges and mint sprigs

Mix the mint with the syrup in a tall glass, add crushed ice. Squeeze half of one lime into the glass, then add the soda water, and garnish with lime wedges and mint sprigs to serve.

5. Cranberry Cooler

Ingredients:

Garnish salt, sugar

6 half-inch slices of peeled cucumber

Crushed ice

6 ounces cranberry juice

Juice squeezed from half a lime

Garnish cucumber slices

Mix a teaspoon each of salt and sugar in a shallow bowl. Moisten the rim of your glass and press the rim into the salt-sugar mix. In a separate blow mash (slightly) the cucumber, add to a shaker of ice, with the cranberry and lime juice. Shake well and pour into prepared glass, garnish with cucumber slices to serve.
