Can You Get Genital Herpes From Sharing A Bathtub Full Of Water With Someone Who Is Having An Outbreak Of Genital Herpes?

This is a good question.

First I want to direct you to our Herpes site.

If I understand you had shared a bath with someone having an outbreak of genital herpes? Is this accurate?

According to the HC Support Network:

"You cannot catch genital herpes by sharing cups, towels or bath water, or from toilet seats. Even during an outbreak, it is only skin to skin contact with the parts of your partner's body which have the sores which you need to avoid."

Hope this helps some. Thank you for your question.
