I Have A Hard Round Ball-shaped Lump, Attached To My Breast Plate.

A couple of weeks ago, I found a hard, round, ball or colliflower shaped lump on my chest plate at the beginning of my right breast. I can move it a little, but it appears to be attached to my chest plate, or ribs, or whatever is inside there. When I lean over while feeling it I can feel that it goes deeper. There is no redness, no raised skin, it can't be a psychotic in grown hair so what is it? There are no other bumps in my breasts, and I'm twenty-three and no one in my family has had breast cancer. Should I be worried?

Answer

Hi - Kudos to you for being aware of changes in your breasts, at such a young age. Yes, you're very young to be thinking about breast cancer, and that's almost certainly not what this lump is. However, the only way to discover what it is will be having it examined by a doctor. So best to call and make an appointment, OK? Good luck - PJH
