I Have Been Having Digestive Problems, Feeling Of Heaviness Under Breastbone.

Question

I Have Been Having Digestive Problems, Feeling Of Heaviness Under Breastbone.

I have been getting a feeling of heaviness just under my breastbone on the left hand side, some acid reflux and niggly kind of pains in my chest on the left hand side, and a general feeling of discomfort when I eat and drink. Sometimes a cup of tea feels like it's burning my esophagus.

Does anybody know what these symptoms might indicate?

Answer

Hi there Rita -

I know this is an old question, but I did want someone from our staff to answer you! I hope you've long since discovered the cause of this problem and gotten some treatment for it. It sounds like you might be having uncontrolled reflux or even a hiatal hernia with GERD, but I'm only a layperson and can't diagnose the issue. If you did find out what was causing the symptoms and got treatment for it, perhaps you'd consider coming back and telling us how things turned out for you? Your experience might be invaluable to someone else suffering from the symptoms.

Here are some links that might be helpful for you in any case. Best of luck to you!
