I Am Having Pain In My Lower Back Very Right Side During A Bowel Movement. If I Strain It Gets Worse Do You Know Of Anything That Would Cause This

I am having pain in my lower back on the very right side during a bowel movement. If I strain, it gets worse. Do you know of anything that would cause this?

Answer

Straining while having a bowel movement can put an increased amount of pressure on many potential sources of pain: intestines, kidneys, spinal discs, and reproductive parts. So, it is really hard to say exactly what the problem is.

Approaching this problem from the other end, straining while having a bowel movement is not really normal and a sign of constipation. Consider drinking more water, eating more fiber, getting more exercise to get those bowel moving easier. Or consult with your doctor about this problem of pain and constipation.
