Can Having Sex With A Yeast Infection Make The Infection Worse?

If you are diagnosed with a yeast infection, were prescribed Diflucan (fluconazole), and had sex after taking the pill, could it possibly make the infection worse? Is it just a case of it getting worse before it gets better?

Answer

hazel_unique,

I know it has been a while since you posted, but I hope things have cleared up for you. I am not a doctor and can't diagnose you, but I think waiting until after you have completed the course of medication is best. Sex might cause additional pain or discomfort while having a yeast infection, and it may put your partner at risk for an infection.

Best of luck!
