I Havve Sudden Pain In My Jaw When I Try To Open My Mouth

I have sudden jaw pain on one side when I try to open my mouth. What causes that?

Answer

Hi Agnes,

Do you have MS? MS patients can develop a condition called trigeminal neuralgia which can cause severe pain in the face and jaw. The pain can sometimes be confused with TMJ problems. You should consult with your dentist and your neurologist to see what might be causing your sudden pain because the treatment can vary.
