Health and Wellness On-the-Go
Last week, CVS Pharmacy announced the introduction of retail vending machines stocked with convenient necessities typically sold at its stores nationwide, including over-the-counter (OTC) health products, personal care products, and healthier snacks. The company will open the first 25 of these vending machines throughout New York and New England in airports, public transit stations, college campuses, and office parks by the end of October.
According to CVS Pharmacy, each vending machine will offer more than 70 different products, many from the company’s exclusive brands, which will be customized to the location. Items offered will include OTC allergy, pain, digestive health, and cough and cold remedies; vitamins and supplements; eye and dental health care products; OTC sleep aids; and first aid products. Healthy snacks and drinks, as well as home and office essentials like batteries, phone chargers, earbuds, lint rollers, and stain removal sticks also will be sold.
The vending machines will feature a 22" multi-touch screen, high resolution images with expansive product information, and a scanner to read barcodes and promotional codes. They will meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Standards, allowing consumers in wheelchairs full access to the touchscreen and its functionality. The machines will accept all major credit and debit cards.
