#ChronicLife Twitter Takeover with Psoriasis Expert, Alisha Bridges
“If I can’t help those closest to me understand the reality of the diseases I live with, who else was I failing to reach?”These were the thoughts of Britt Johnson (aka Hurt Blogger), who shared her experience living with Rheumatoid Arthritis during our first #ChronicLife Takeover in May. In honor of Psoriasis Awareness Month, we are excited to announce our next takeover event will be hosted by National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) Volunteer, and 2015 NPF Volunteer Leadership Award Winner, Alisha Bridges! The event, titled, Living with Psoriasis: Being YOU in Your Own Skin will be held on Friday, August 28th - Saturday August 29th.
Alisha will be covering the ways living with a chronic illness affects:
Living with clear skin (which may bring along its own new set of fears)
And much more!
To get involved, follow @Health_Tips on Twitter and use the #ChronicLife hashtag August 28th and 29th, 2015. Want to get active right now? Retweet the news to let us know you’ll be there and spread the word! Our takeovers are for those living and not living with a condition alike - so during the event, retweet your favorite moments, share your own experiences, and star your favorite words of wisdom to share with others!
Along with being a NPF volunteer, Alisha is a HealthCentral Community Expert and psoriasis community advocate. Hiding her psoriasis for over 20 years, she found the courage to share her story after attending the 2011 NPF Conference in Washington D.C., while speaking with Members of Congress on psoriasis health legislation. Since then, Alisha has shown leadership by speaking in Rome, Italy at the International Dermatology Outcome Measures (IDOM), sponsoring the first Psoriasis Awareness Month Scholarship, Walk for a Cure Psoriasis Atlanta, and creating her successful blog, beingmeinmyownskin.com.
So what is #ChronicLife anyways?
ChronicLife is a positive movement that connects people living with chronic illnesses of all kinds, and encourages them to openly share their experiences so no one feels like they’re going through this alone.
During our takeovers, HealthCentral experts living with chronic conditions tweet live from our @Health_Tips account. Over the course of two days, the experts share advice on living a fulfilling life with chronic illness, educate people on how the condition affects their daily lives, as well as lend support and encouragement to others in the community facing #ChronicLife challenges. During our May event, Britt Johnson interacted with over 1,000 people and trended nationally both days, resulting in over 15 million impressions! We have no doubt, this next event will be another great success.
_Make sure to join in for our #ChronicLife Twitter Takeover this August 28th and 29th! Missed our event in May or looking to do your own #ChronicLife live-tweet experiment? Read the wrap-up of the May event and join the movement! _
