Can Hip Pain Move Down The Leg?

Can Hip Pain Move Down The Leg?

I have pain in my hip that has now moved down my leg. Is this leg pain related to the hip pain, or is it a different problem?

First, it's important to determine where the hip pain is coming from. Hip pain can be caused by lower back problems, which, in turn, can cause pain coursing down the leg. This is commonly known as sciatica and you often notice pain down the back of the leg sometimes all the way into the foot. On the other hand, hip pain can be caused by problems with the hip itself, including arthritis, damage to the bone, etc. It's best to let a doctor be the one to decide what's causing the problem, particularly if it persists for a long time.
