I Have A Huge Purple Cyst/zit Type Thing Under My Breast And It's Bled For Over 5 Hours After It Popped On It's Own.
I get these 'zits' under my breasts (36d) that when popped, snake out solidish like and on occasion I will get HUGE purple ones that are tender, last for months, often don't disappear but will go back into the boob leaving a purple mark. Just recently one 'popped' all on it's own after a few days with a bandaid and neosporin, it bled for over 5 hours (slow but enough to cause worry), thick, and very painful. I just recently checked it and it's SEVERELY painful and when I removed the bandaid and jiggled the breast around, it started bleeding again. I'm worried. Where the huge lump was is now a deep hole, almost black in color, still bleeding slowly. I've searched around the internet and found nothing on it really, so now I'm worrying I have breast cancer (which killed my grandmother at 50, she was diagnosed at 33) and I don't know where they do free screenings. Actually, the only free screenings are for women 40+ in age. Help? I'm 29 years old and don't have health insurance because I'm the fulltime caretaker for my very ill father. I always joke around with friends that I'll die before him because the caretaker doesn't take care of themselves... I really really want that to just be a joke. I'm scared. Thanks Tricia
Tricia, I'm sorry you're having to deal with this; as a caretaker, you've already got a full plate. Ths sounds very much like chronic boils, or abscesses. Please read through this thread on boils; it may help explain what's going on, and what other women have found useful in treating the condition. Luckily, what you describe doesn't sound like a breast cancer symptom.
That said, you need to see a doctor. Call your local hospital, ask to speak to the social workers, and find out about lower-cost walk-in clinics, or what accommodations they make for patients without health insurance. If you have to pay on a payment plan, so be it; but you can't leave this untreated. So please make the call, OK? Take care- PJH
