Hi My Husband Shakes Uncontrollably In His Sleep It Comes And Goes Throughout The Night But He Has No Other Symtoms Apart From The Shaking Is It A Sign Off Any Illness Thankyou G Brown
My husband shakes uncontrollably in his sleep. It comes and goes throughout the night, but he shows no other symptoms of illness or anything. What's the cause?
I know this question is old, but I wanted to make sure you received an answer! One of the problems with trying to help someone diagnose a condition online is that there's no good way for me to understand what you mean when you say your husband shakes. You may be talking about a convulsion, a muscle spasm, or a tic. Since that's true, you'll feel better and I'll feel better if your husband sees his doctor about this issue.
With that said, there are many possible things that can cause twitching during deep sleep. The feeling that you have sometimes of trying to "catch" yourself when you fall asleep is called sleep myoclonus, while other causes may be Restless Leg Syndrome, or Periodic Limb Movement Disorder. All of these can disrupt good sleep, so it's important for your husband to see his doctor to be fully diagnosed.
I hope that helped! Come back and let us know if you found out the reason for your husband's sleep restlessness.
Good luck to you both!
