He is 49yrs old and has a large hard thing inside his penis that has never been there before. It doesn’t hurt him, but afraid could be bad.
This most likely represents Peyronies disease. The hardened area is probably a plaque, which is a deposition of a substnace, collagen, that causes a thickening or hardening in the area. This disease can be progressive leading to painful erection or a bending of the penis that may result in difficulty with sexual relations as penetration may be become difficult. Initial treatments are conservative, such as the use of Vit E, but other medications may be used with progressive disease such as Potaba or Verapamil Gel. Severe cases may require surgical correction.
