Hypersensitivity, also called sensory defensiveness, is being overly sensitive to external stimulus. A common hypersensitivity would be touch, when someone becomes irritated or distracted because of tags in clothing. Hypersensitivity can also occur from stimulus from taste, smell, hearing or vision.
