Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Her2

Asked by Concerned sister

Invasive Ductal Carcinoma Her2

My sister whom is 43 has just found out she had Invasive Ductal carcinoma that is HER2 positive. Please tell me what you can about this and what the survival rate is. She starts chemo next week

You can read more about invasive ductal carcinoma at this link. It's the most common type of breast cancer, and most women survive it these days and do just fine. Tumors that are Her2neu positive tend to be more aggressive, which is probably why her doctor is recommending chemo. The exact details of her survival rate depend on the size of the tumor, whether it has spread, and other factors such as her estrogen receptor status. You will find more information on this website about chemo and other issues that your sister will face. Let us know how we can help.
