Itchy Sensation In Upper Back/lung????????

I've been experiencing an itching sensation in my upper back/lung area, on the inside. It feels like I need to scratch it, but I can't because it's deep in my chest.

I recently had a chest infection that was treated with an antibiotic, but I believe it has cleared now. I do have asthma but I only have to use my inhalers if I have a cold or the flu. Does anyone know what could be causing this itch?

Answer

I often have crazy, itching feelings throughout my respiratory tract, as a result of my allergies and asthma. It's not always in the same place, and it's not always even a symptom I have during an allergy attack. But when it comes, as you know, it's maddening because there is nothing you can do to relieve it, other than just wait for it to pass.

I'd suggest you might want to take your inhaler for a few days to see if that helps relieve the itch. It could help open your lungs, which could help.

It may also be that you're having an allergic reaction to something in your environment. You may want to keep a journal to try and pinpoint when it comes on, what you may have been doing at the time, etc. Also, don't hesitate to talk with your doctor about how you are feeling and to find out if there might be another explanation.
