Ive Been Having Breast Pain In My Left Breast. It Started As Soreness On The Left Side Of Breast. Then The Pain Went 2 The Lower Right Side Of The Breast And Radiated Toward The Nipple.

Ive been having breast pain in my left breast. It started as soreness on the left side of breast. Then the pain went to the lower right side of the breast and radiated toward the nipple and felt like pins and needles. I haven't felt any lumps, but right underneath the nipple is very sore and tender to the touch. When I go to bed, the pain seems to stop, and then awhile after I wake up it starts again. Should I get this checked out or give it a few more days?

Answer

Since you're pre-menopausal, the pain you're feeling could very well be hormonal, which is the usual cause of breast pain in younger women. Thankfully, your description doesn't sound like a typical breast cancer symptom. However, any breast change should be assessed by a doctor if it lasts longer than a month; so if it's still bothering you in another few weeks, it would be best to see a doctor, OK? In the meantime, our post on breast pain might shed some light on possible causes. Take care - PJH
