All My Joints In My Body Ache Or Are Painfull All The Time From My Knees To The Tops Of My Shoulders

All my joints in my body ache or are painful all the time from my knees to the tops of my shoulders. What could cause this?

Answer

If you're having that kind of chronic pain, you must talk to you doctor right away and start to figure out what the trouble is and what you can do about it.

First, be sure you can describe your pain.

Osteoarthritis tends to be like this:

  • The most common symptom of osteoarthritis in any joint is pain that worsens during activity and gets better during rest. As the disease advances, the pain may occur even when the joint is at rest.
  • Pain is generally described as aching, stiffness, and loss of mobility.
  • The pain may behave like a roller coaster, with bad spells followed by periods of relative relief.
  • Pain seems to increase in humid weather.
  • Some people experience muscle spasm and contractions in the tendons.
  • Osteoarthritis in the knee may cause a crackling-like noise (called crepitus) when moved.

If your pain doesn't sound like this, then you may want to ask about rheumatoid arthritis. In RA, joints are swollen, may be warm to the touch and tend to be stiff in the morning. People with RA may also feel tired or have fever and unexplained weight loss.
