Are Lobster Tails High In Cholesterol?

Answer

Hi ann lesnar:

Cholesterol levels on lobster tails will vary on how it is cooked and it's size. I have seen lobster tail have anywhere from 20mg-low 100mg cholestero on small and medium portions, and 200-340's on medium to large size portions. Cholesterol levels may be higher if there is butter or other sauces involved. So, I think, lobster tails may or may not have high cholesterol.

Government guidelines do state that you should limit your average cholesterol intake to less than 300 milligrams per day. If you have cardiovascular disease, diabetes or a high low-density lipoprotein (LDL, or "bad") blood cholesterol level, you should limit your dietary cholesterol intake to less than 200 mg a day.

Best wishes,

Tara
