How Long Does The Chest Pain Associated With Acidreflux Last?

I was taken to the ER on Tuesday of this week. They ran a few tests and determined that they thought it was Acid Reflux. However, after taking medication and eating small and bland foods, the pain in my chest is still persisting when I walk, lean over, or lay down. Would the pain associated with this last for three days?

Hello Retha,

It is normal for the pain to take a little time before subsiding. The damage that caused the pain did not happen immediately, so it will take some time to heal. In the meantime you should follow your diet and doctors advice and continue taking your medication. If you would like more information, you can read about symptoms of Acid Reflux here, check the medication you've been prescribed here, look up other treatments available here and learn about GERD in general here. Online sites are great places to get the information you need to ask all the right questions when it's time to see your doctor, but they can not take the place of your doctor's sound medical advice.

Hope this helps!
