Answer

Hi SK,

The average time for an outbreak after first being exposed to the virus is anywhere between 2-12 days. However, it is estimated that around 60 % of new HSV-2 infections show no symptoms at all. There is a fairly detailed article relating to the symptoms of herpes. This information and more is available in this article called Genital Herpes Symptoms.
