Can I Take 1mg Of Lorazepam Whist Pregnant?

I am currently taking 1 mg lorazepam and 20g citalipram and suffer panic attacks and anxiety. I've been on them for seven years, but I'd like to know if they're safe to take during pregnancy.

Answer

Hi there Chic83,

I'm sure you've gotten an answer to your question by now, but I wanted to jump in here in hope the response will be helpful to others.

The best way to know for sure if a medication is safe to take during pregnancy is to talk to your doctor. I know you know that, but I think I speak for all of us when I say that we'd all feel better if these types of questions are addressed by your own physician. :)

With that said, yes, many people need to and are able to stay on their anxiety medications while pregnant. It sounds like your doctor has a plan for you if you do become pregnant, but if you're worried about it definitely share your concerns until you feel you've had all of your questions answered. It's an important subject, after all!

Good luck to you. If you have a chance come back here and let us know how things are going.

Best,

Renee
