I Have Lots Of Migraines Usually 2 Days In A Row And Sometimes Upto 5 Days In A Row How Do I Stop It

Can anyone help me figure out how to treat my migraines that last for days at a time? I have aura and severe pain in my head and sinuses, along with photosensitivity. These episodes last for a couple of weeks and then go away for several months, only to return. I can't afford to go to the doctor, and I don't feel my employers understand how bad my migraines are. I have cut caffeine out of my diet, tried two prescription drugs, and none of those have helped. Can anyone help?

Answer

Hi Shayne2286,

Anyone who has three or more Migraines a month needs to be talking with their doctor about prevention. There's growing evidence that Migraine is a progressive brain disease. A recent study showed that Migraines can cause brain damage, and that people with three or more Migraines a month are more susceptible to this damage. For more information, see Is Migraine a Progressive Brain Disease? and Yes, Migraines Can Cause Brain Damage.

Ok, having said that, it is time to find a doctor who will help you. If your doctor isn't able to help you, it may well be time to consult a Migraine and headache specialist. It's important to note that neurologists aren't necessarily Migraine and headache specialists. Take a look at the article Migraine and Headache Specialists - What's So Special?

Good luck
