I Have A Lump In My Breast That My Gyn Said Was A Superficial Cyst

(you can actually see the bump by just looking at my breast). I am getting an ultrasound and mammo - but typically, does breat cancer tumors present itself with a lump that can be felt and seen?

Answer

Most lumps are not breast cancer, so try not to worry about yours, especially since your doctor says it's a cyst. This link will give you more information about types of breast lumps. Breast cancer tumors can be in any part of the breast; sometimes the lumps can be seen at the surface, but more often they would not be that close to the surface. Ultrasounds are really good at telling the difference between a solid lump that might need a biopsy and a fluid-filled cyst that is not dangerous. It sounds like your doctor is doing a good job of checking this out even though he is pretty sure it's a cyst.
