I Have A Lump In My Breast That Hurts When I Touch It

I have a lump in my breast that only hurts when I touch the area where the lump is or lay on it. It now feels hot around the area, as well. I have made an appointment with my doctor, but my mind is going crazy with worry. Can anyone shed any light on this?

Answer

RJ, the fact that this area feels hot suggests that you might have some kind of infection, so see the doctor as soon as possible. Painful lumps can also be harmless, fluid-filled cysts, but those don't usually feel hot. It's extremely unlikely that this would be cancer, but it does need to be checked out by your doctor.
