Are Maxzide and Lasix the same medication?

hello jebs,

Not exactly.

Both are blood pressure medications in a class called diuretics. This means that they both work by removing excess fluid and salt from your body.

Maxzide (or more commonly its generic name hydrochlorothiazide or HCTZ) works on a different part of your kidney than lasix. Lasix also has different properties which can be useful in other diseases besides high blood pressure, like heart failure and liver disease.

Hope this helps,
